At Printed By Us, we’ve always believed in the power of creativity to inspire mindfulness, growth, and recovery. Screen printing isn’t just a craft—it’s a way to build confidence, focus the mind, and create something meaningful. Thanks to funding from the council, we’ve been able to offer funded screen printing workshops to organisations in the recovery network, including a recent session with the brilliant team at Roundabout!

Through these workshops, participants have the chance to step into a creative space, try something new, and discover how screen printing can inspire personal growth and even open pathways to employment. The core goal of these sessions is to engage marginalised and vulnerable groups to participate in wellbeing activities.

A Hands-On Workshop with Roundabout

Roundabout is an incredible charity supporting young people experiencing homelessness, offering them the tools and support they need to build brighter futures. Together, we hosted a workshop where their participants could roll up their sleeves, get hands-on with screen printing, and experience the magic of creating something themselves.

The session wasn’t just about learning a new skill—it was about creating a moment of calm and focus in what can often feel like a chaotic world. Screen printing is a step-by-step process that requires patience and attention, making it a perfect tool for mindfulness.

One participant shared their experience:
“This was such a cool experience. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I feel proud of what I made. It felt really relaxing, too.”

It’s moments like these that show the impact of these workshops. They’re not just creative activities—they’re opportunities to slow down, connect, and rediscover a sense of accomplishment.

Creativity as a Pathway to Confidence

In addition to providing a creative outlet, our workshops also aim to show how screen printing can open doors to new opportunities. During the session with Roundabout, participants heard inspiring stories from individuals who’ve joined our supported employment programme.

These are people who’ve faced significant challenges, including homelessness or unemployment, and have found a fresh start through our programme. By learning new skills and gaining valuable work experience, they’ve been able to rebuild their confidence, develop new skills, and move toward sustainable employment.

For the young people at Roundabout, hearing these stories demonstrated what’s possible. Our workshops aren't just about art—it’s about engaging in activities that become a stepping stone to something bigger.

Funded Support That Makes a Difference

Thanks to the council’s funding, we’ve been able to offer these workshops for free to organizations like Roundabout, Archer Project and others within the recovery network. This support has covered the costs of materials, equipment, and staff time, allowing us to focus on what matters most: creating an inspiring and inclusive experience for participants.

By removing financial barriers, we’ve been able to open our studio doors to more people who can benefit from the therapeutic and practical benefits of screen printing. For many participants, it’s a rare opportunity to focus on themselves, their creativity, and their future.

Collaboration with the Recovery Network

Our work wouldn’t be possible without the incredible partnerships we’ve built within the recovery network. Together, we share a common goal: to provide meaningful opportunities that help individuals regain confidence, rebuild their lives, and move forward. Whether it’s through creative workshops or ongoing support, we’re committed to making a difference.

Looking Ahead

Our workshop with Roundabout is just one example of how we’re using screen printing to make a positive impact in the community that’s wider than our own programme. We’re excited to continue offering free workshops to other organizations within the recovery network, using creativity as a tool to inspire mindfulness, growth, and hope.

We believe that art can change lives, and with the council’s support, we’re able to bring that belief to life, one workshop at a time.
