At Printed by Us, we believe learning isn’t just something you do in a classroom—it's something you live. Whether it’s picking up new creative skills, rebuilding confidence, or finding your feet after tough times, growth is part of the job.
That’s why Learning at Work Week (13–19 May 2025) resonates so strongly with us. The theme this year is "Learning Power", and honestly? That’s what we see every day in our workspace—people rediscovering their power through learning, collaboration, and creativity.
Printing Skills, Life Skills
Learning to screen print is about patience, attention to detail, and pride in your craft. Many of the people who come through our supported employment programme have experienced homelessness, trauma, or long-term unemployment. Through hands-on training, we create space to learn practical skills and rebuild self-belief.
From mixing inks and aligning screens to managing orders and speaking to customers, every part of the job helps develop transferable skills. Our team doesn't just print garments—they learn teamwork, time management, problem-solving and creative thinking. And those are skills that go far beyond the workshop.
Planning for the Future
As part of our programme, we actively support staff in thinking about what’s next. That might mean helping someone apply for a college course, exploring training opportunities in a new field, or just having conversations about long-term goals. Everyone’s path looks different, but we’re here to help them find it.
We’ve supported team members into further education, creative careers, care work, catering—you name it. The goal isn’t just employment now, it’s purpose and possibility for the future.
Real Learning, Real Wages
We believe people should be paid to learn, not just volunteer or train endlessly without support. That’s why we’re proud to pay the Real Living Wage. Learning at work is powerful—but it’s even more powerful when people are valued and supported as they grow.
A Culture of Curiosity
We don’t pretend to have it all figured out. Our team is always learning—from each other, from the challenges we face, and from the community around us. We’re constantly refining how we work, exploring more sustainable materials, improving our creative processes, and adapting to new ideas.
💡 So this Learning at Work Week, we’re celebrating all the small steps, shared knowledge, and lightbulb moments that happen in our studio every day.
Because when learning is part of the culture, not just a one-off event, it empowers people to grow far beyond the workplace.
